Marketa K. Pleasant grew up traveling the world with her family, ultimately making Princeton, New Jersey their home. She was raised by builder parents that encouraged her to explore her creative side. Marketa always found herself more interested in art classes then in science lessons, and knew early on, as long as she was being creative in some form or another , she was happy. She followed that urge and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating, she built a career in Fashion Design in New York City, Designing for companies such as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein; all while designing for the family building business back home. After Fifteen years in New York City, she moved back to Princeton with her husband and two children and merged her many interests into one focus, Interior Design. She applied her love of fabrics, color, texture, and travel to start her own business, MK Pleasant Interior Design.
As lead designer, Marketa oversees all design projects to ensure they are a reflection of the client, while incorporating the MKP aesthetic. Her ability to create balance, whether combining contemporary with traditional or an eclectic mix with classic elements always produces a sophisticated sensibility. Marketa brings a fresh aesthetic to her spaces, mixing styles and sourcing unique pieces to achieve bright, clean, and comfortable spaces.
